About PSLF

Candidly's Public Service Loan Forgiveness solutions make it easy to check eligibility and submit PSLF forms to your employer for certification.

How to check your PSLF eligibility

  1. Sign into your Candidly account.
  2. Open the left-hand menu > select PSLF
  3. Select "Check eligibility." If you haven't yet connected your student loans to Candidly, you will be prompted to do so.

At this point, you will see a message informing you of your PSLF eligibility status. Remember, only federal Direct Loans qualify for PSLF.

How to submit a PSLF form

  1. Sign into your Candidly account.
  2. Open the left-hand menu > select PSLF.
  3. Click the "PSLF form" tab > select "Complete PSLF form".
  4. Follow the prompts to provide all required information for the employment period you wish to certify.
  5. Draw your signature > click the checkbox to authorize Candidly to submit your PSLF form on your behalf.
  6. Click "Submit"

After you submit your PSLF form, Candidly will send your completed form to your employer for certification. Once your employer approves your form, Candidly will automatically submit it to MOHELA (the student loan servicer that manages borrowers pursuing PSLF). MOHELA will contact you with updates on your certification status. It may take MOHELA up to 90 days to complete the review process.

What should  I do if my PSLF form is rejected by my employer?

If your employer rejects your PSLF form, you will receive an email explaining the reason for the rejection. You can re-submit the PSLF form using Candidly with updated information by clicking “Submit new form”. Contact your human resources department if you believe there is an error. You can also reach out to Candidly at help@getcandidly.com for further guidance.

How long does it take for my PSLF form to be processed by MOHELA?

It can take up to 90 days for MOHELA to process your PSLF form.

If you haven’t heard back from MOHELA after 90 days, or if you have any questions about the status of your form, call MOHELA at (888) 866-4352 or reach out to our team at help@getcandidly.com

How often should I submit a PSLF form?

To keep track of your progress to the 120 qualifying payments required to receive forgiveness through PSLF, we recommend submitting a PSLF form annually and/or each time you leave a qualifying employer.
