About Round Up
Round Up collects the spare change from everyday purchases, and then sends what it's collected to your student loans at the end of each month (up to your designated maximum monthly contribution). In other words, every time you drop $5.25 on your favorite latte, Round Up collects $0.75 for your student loans.
How to activate Round Up
To activate Round Up:
- Sign into your Candidly account.
- Open the left-hand menu > select Round Up.
- Click through the prompts to learn about Round Up.
- Follow the prompts to securely connect your bank account and share your selected account(s) with Candidly.
- Select a spending account from your list of connected accounts.
- Select a funding account from your list of connected accounts.
- If you have already connect your student loan account(s), your Round Up payments will be sent to your primary loan account. If you have not yet connected at least one student loan account, you will be prompted to do so in order to finish activating Round Up.
Once you finish activating Round Up, you'll be directed to the Round Up dashboard. Here, you can adjust your maximum monthly Round Up contribution, change your spending and funding accounts, and review your Round Up history.
How to change your spending and funding accounts for Round Up
What are the spending and funding accounts?
When a charge is made to your spending account, Round Up will "round up" the charge to the nearest dollar. This spare change is collected until your monthly maximum Round Up contribution is met. At the end of the month, Round Up charges your funding account for the total spare change it collected that month, and sends this amount as a payment to your primary loan account.
What types of accounts can be used for my spending and funding accounts?
Any credit card, debit card, or checking account can be used as your spending account. Only a checking account can be used as your funding account.
To change your spending or funding account:
- Sign into your Candidly account.
- Open the left-hand menu > select Round Up.
- Click the '...' in the upper lefthand corner of the 'Accounts' section.
- Select 'Manage Spending Account' or 'Manage Funding Account' and follow the prompts to select a new account.
How to change your monthly maximum Round Up contribution
After you activate Round Up, it will "round up" all charges made to your spending account to the nearest dollar and collect the spare change until your monthly maximum Round Up contribution is met. If monthly maximum Round Up contribution is met in a given month, Round Up will stop collecting spare change from charges made to your spending account until the next month. The default maximum Round Up contribution value is $50.
To change your maximum monthly Round Up contribution:
- Sign into your Candidly account.
- Open the left-hand menu > select Round Up.
- Click the '...' in the upper lefthand corner of the tile displaying your monthly Round Up progress.
- Select 'Edit Max Round Up' and follow the prompts to change your maximum monthly contribution.
How to pause or disable Round Up
If you want to take a break from making Round Up contributions, you can pause or disable this feature at any time.
To pause or disable Round Up:
- Sign into your Candidly account.
- Open the left-hand menu > select Round Up.
- Click the '...' in the upper lefthand corner of the tile displaying your monthly Round Up progress.
- Select 'Pause Round Up' or 'Disable Round Up' and follow the prompts to complete the process.
